Prof. Santo Raffaele Mercuri is Head of the Dermatology Unit of San Raffaele Research Hospital in Milan, and a contract professor for the five-year Dentistry and Prosthodontics degree program at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
- University career

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Messina, where he also completed his residency in Dermatology and Venereology, with honors.
- Teaching activities

In the course of his career he has lectured at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, as part of the Medicine and Surgery, Dental Hygiene and Dentistry and Prosthodontics five-year degree programs. At the same university, he has also lectured in the Pediatrics and Infectious and Tropical Diseases residency programs. Between 2013 and 2015, he taught the advanced Pediatric Dermatology course at the University of Parma and in Bachelor’s Degrees and level 2 Master’s Programs at Tor Vergata University in Rome.
- Research and clinical studies

He has taken part in several scientific projects conducted by research groups consisting of specialists from different universities, such as those on innovative treatments for vitiligo, on the use of new ablative and nonablative laser techniques in the treatment of skin diseases and on the etiopathogenesis of the different variants of psoriasis. He has also been the Principal Investigator and Scientific Supervisor of multicenter clinical trials and observational studies.
- Publications and appointments

Author and co-author of more than 60 articles published in national and international journals and numerous book chapters, since 2011 he has worked as an Expert on the Board of the National Institute of Health for matters regarding dermatology; he also heads and is a Member of the Management Committee of the Lombardy Regional Section of the Association of Dermatology of Magna Graecia, as well as a Member of the Scientific Committee of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine in Milan.
